At the end of this lesson you should :

• Be able to calculate the electric flux through a surface; in particular the net electric flux through a closed surface.
• To understand the concept of a gaussian surface.
• To know Gauss' Law and be able to use it in order to calculate electric fields at points in the vicinity of charge distributions which exhibit spherical, cylinderical or planar symmetry.
• Be able to describe the properties which characterize an electrical conductor in electrostatic equilibrium.
